This cute little coffee contraption is on sale at Target as a daily deal for just $16! I'm excited about this because it should put off my husbands "need" for a keurig which are way too expensive IMO. I checked on Amazon and it has a 4 out of 5 star rating from 300 people. I read about one couple that likes different coffee so they each use one of these every morning! :)
While I can't necessarily endorse the Keurig, i have to say that my experience with small one cup coffee makers is not good. Over time, the heating mechanism becomes weakened and the coffee stops being as hot. Now, to be fair, this happens to me after several years. So, i suppose that one could purchase 4 of these for the cost of low level Keurig and span about 12-16 years. But then you also have to consider that the amount of coffee used to brew a non-pressurized cup of coffee (the keurig uses pressure) is arguable (with good coffee) more pricey than discounted Keurig pods. Given that my frugal friend is good at finding deals, i assume she would never purchase a keurig pod for more than 50% of actual retail price. I could probably produce a cost benefit analysis on an excel doc if you need one.
ReplyDeleteBut let's be honest, John wants a Keurig because it's a cool gadget. And they are - i love my Mother in Law's!
haha. My experience with keurigs is that the drink is always weak. Maybe its the setting, I'm not sure. But I am fine if it only lasts a couple years because I think so will the keurig- because "cool gadgets" get outdated quite quickly...if we are honest, we usually don't want anything to last too long lest we are unable to get the newest cool thing. Maybe John's super close friends will one day buy him a keurig :)
ReplyDeletehaha...fair point about the lifespan of gadgets - John's close friends have a Tassimo at the office. He can use that whenever he wants
